Our Water Center Fill Stations
The Atlantic Blue Water Center’s fill station process is designed to provide those in Central Maryland with water that is healthy and delicious. Our state-of-the-art filtration process removes impurities and unhealthy contaminants before the water is dispensed into your reusable containers. The quality taste of our water is sure to keep you coming back for more!
Fresh and Purified Water
Our fill station process converts regular tap water into water full of electrolytes and minerals to help you feel energized and refreshed. The addition of electrolytes and minerals is beneficial to your health in that they help regulate blood pressure, maintain the acidity of your blood, and ultimately help keep you hydrated.
In addition, our fill station eliminates the need for plastic water bottles, decreasing the amount of plastic waste. For your convenience, our fill station is free, helping you cut costs on water bottles. We make clean water accessible, affordable, and better for the environment!
Our 9-Step Filtering Process
Step 1: Acid Neutralizer/Back-Washing Filter
The first step in our water purification process is to send the water through a backwash cycle. The back-washing filter reverses the flow of water and tosses the water back and forth, removing contaminants such as iron and chlorine. Our acid neutralizer raises the pH value of the water, lowering acidity.
Step 2: Water Softener
After going through our acid neutralizer/back-washing filter, the water is sent through a water softener. Our water softener consists of a tall water-softener tank filled with resin beads and a short brine tank that is filled with salt or potassium chloride pellets. The water flows through the resin beads, which have a negative charge and attract the positively charged minerals in the water.
Step 3
Sediment Filter
(2.5 x 10 micron)
Next, the water passes through a sediment filter. This filter removes solid impurities, including dust, rust, and dirt. This instantly improves the smell and taste of the water.
Step 4
Ultraviolet Sterilization
Then, the water goes through ultraviolet sterilization, which uses UV light to remove bacteria from the water. This step is crucial as it helps ensure there is no possibility of waterborne illnesses.
Step 5
Carbon Filtration
The carbon filtration step removes odors, bad tastes, and chlorine from the water. Carbon filters use activated carbon to absorb impurities.
Step 6
Sediment Filter
(2.5 x 10 micron)
Next, the water will go through our sediment filter again to remove any solid impurities that may still be lingering.
Step 7
Reverse Osmosis
Reverse osmosis is an important step in the water purification process as it removes particles that are especially difficult to remove from water. These particles could include lead, salts, fluoride, and others.
Step 8
Ultraviolet Sterilization
We run the water through UV sterilization again to remove any lingering bacteria that could be harmful to your health.
Step 9
Granular Activated Carbon Filter
(4.5 x 20 micron)
For the final polish, the water goes through our granular activated carbon filter, which removes organic chemicals from the water.
