Why Invest in Water Filtration & Treatment?
Even if your water looks clean, it may contain harmful contaminants that affect your health and home. Both public water and private well systems can benefit from filtration and treatment.
Water Filtration
Filtration systems remove harmful and nuisance pollutants from your water. Proper filtration eliminates problems like:
- Sediment, sand, and rust particles
- Chlorine and chemical residues
- Contaminants that cause bad tastes and odors
- Iron, manganese, and other heavy metals that cause staining and can affect your health
- Nitrates and other chemical contaminants
- Volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which can be toxic
Water Treatment
Water treatment can solve complex water quality issues. Treatment systems help to:
- Remove hard water minerals that can damage pipes, laundry, and appliances
- Balance pH levels that cause pipe corrosion
- Neutralize harmful bacteria and viruses
- Improve water pressure and rinsing ability
At Atlantic Blue Water Services, we offer a wide range of products for water purification and treatment. Contact us today to schedule a service appointment and allow our team members to help you choose the best system for your needs!
City Water vs. Well Water
Public water supplies are treated at the source but can pick up contaminants through aging pipes. Sometimes, chemicals used for disinfection can also interact with organic matter in the water, resulting in harmful byproducts. Well water often needs extensive treatment and filtration since it comes straight from the ground.
Regardless of your water source, our professionals can recommend the right combination of filtration and treatment to solve your unique water problems. Annual testing will then help us monitor your system’s performance and adjust your treatment plan as needed.
With help from Atlantic Blue Water Services, you’ll get clean, safe water from every tap. Whether you need a water filtration system for the home or your business, we have a vast array of products to meet your needs.

Signs You Need Water Treatment
- Discolored or Murky Water: Brown or rusty water often signals high metal content. Yellow or tea-colored water may contain tannins from decaying vegetation. Cloudy or murky water usually contains sediment, such as tiny particles of dirt, sand, or rust. These particles can come from well deterioration, pipe corrosion, or disturbances in your system.
- Earthy Smell or Taste: If your water tastes like moss or earth, there is likely algae growth in your system. Although some algae are harmless, others release toxins that cause discoloration, foul tastes and smells, and health issues. Other signs of algae growth can include cloudy water, slime on the surface, or a foamy appearance. We offer various methods for eliminating algae in your system.
- Metallic Taste: If your water smells or tastes like metal, your water’s acidity level may be too high. Acidic water can slowly erode pipes over time, but an acid neutralizer can fix the issue. You may also simply have high metal content in your well system, which a filter can help address.
- Rotten Egg Smell: You’ll notice this smell in areas where the water contains a large amount of hydrogen sulfide. We eliminate this problem using backwashing filters and aeration devices that neutralize the odor and remove gas buildup.
- Chlorine Taste and Smell: Public water often goes through a chlorination process to eliminate viruses and bacteria. Sometimes, the smell of chlorine is too strong to ignore and gives your water an unpleasant taste. If the problem exists throughout your home, we can use carbon filtration to treat the issue. If it’s a stand-alone tap, we opt for reverse osmosis or a point-of-use carbon filter.
- Stains on Clothing: If you notice stains on your freshly washed clothes, you may have too much manganese, copper, or iron in your water. We can lower the levels of these metals with a softening treatment or filtration system.
- Limescale Buildup: Limescale is a common sign of hard water. Hard water contains high amounts of minerals like calcium and magnesium. These minerals build up in water lines, on fixtures, showers, and in water-using appliances. A softener system can effectively remove these minerals and leave you with clear, soft water.
- Health Problems: When viruses or bacteria exist in your water supply, they can cause various health issues ranging from nausea to diarrhea. Even if you don’t drink water from your tap, if you shower in contaminated water or wash food with it, you and your family are at risk. We can remove bacterial contamination using safe and effective ultraviolet (UV) treatment.
- You Live in a Rural Area: Some problems are not always obvious, which is why you should test your tap water often for nitrates. Nitrates are harmful chemicals that seep into water systems from:
-
- Agricultural chemical runoff
- Animal waste
- Landfills
- Industrial waste
- Municipal wastewater
- Septic tanks and private sewage systems
Nitrates are toxic, especially to infants and pregnant women. With our reverse osmosis and nitrate reduction treatments, your tap will once again flow with fresh, clean water.
